KANSAS CITY, Mo. – No. 6 seed Hillcat Softball (34-18, 14-10 MIAA) will face No. 3 seed Pittsburg State in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 7, at 4 p.m. at the Trussell Sports Complex in Emporia, Kansas.
RSU will make its sixth consecutive MIAA Tournament appearance and seeks to claim its third tournament title. Head coach
Andrea Vaughan's squads have won MIAA Championships in 2022 and 2024, and finished runner-up in 2021 and 2025.
Earlier this year, the Hillcats and No. 4 Gorillas split a doubleheader in Pittsburg, Kansas, with RSU taking game one, 8-6, and PSU winning game two, 5-1. This marks the third meeting between the two programs in the MIAA Tournament. RSU previously claimed a 2-1 extra-inning thriller in the 2024 Championship Game and secured a 7-2 victory last season in the semifinals.
The winner of Thursday's contest will face either No. 2 seed Central Oklahoma or the winner of the No. 7 seed Northeast vs. No. 10 seed Northwest Missouri State game on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The championship game will take place on Saturday at 12 p.m. For more information, visit
