About: Newton returns to the Hill for her second season after appearing in all 26 games as a junior last year earning 23 starts. The Omaha, Neb., native ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 8.2 points per game while reaching double figures seven times and pulled down 2.5 rebounds per contest. Newton tallied a career-high 23 points against St. Edward's adding a career-best 10 rebounds for her first double-double. She came to RSU from McCook Community College where she helped the Lady Indians to a conference championship and semifinal finish at regionals. Playing for Head Coach Kylee Rhinehart, she averaged 13.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game as a sophomore. She was named First Team All-Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference in 2012-13. As a senior at Millard West High School, she averaged 10.2 points and 2.3 assists per game on the way to a state tournament appearance. The daughter of Traci Newton and Michael Griffin, she said she chose RSU because "it has a swimming pool."
