About: DeRoin returns to the Hill in 2015 and will take a redshirt for the season following a spectacular debut in 2014 where she was named RSU Women's Cross Country Newcomer of the Year. The Oklahoma City, Oklahoma native ran all six races as a freshman and landed a spot on the All-Heartland Conference team for her seventh-place finish where she ran a personal best of 22:58.32. The performance at the conference meet helped the Hillcats place second as a team with her first-career, top-10 result. She also was named to the Heartland Conference Academic All-Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for 2014-15. DeRoin came to RSU from Westmoore High School where she was an all-region and all-conference selection during her senior season for the Jaguars and Head Coach Laura Clay. She ran personal-best times of 12:15 in the 3,200 meters and 2:21 in the 800 meters. The daughter of Dave and Kristy DeRoin, she said she chose RSU because "it has a good size conducive to success, great coaches, and wonderful teammates."
