About: Jones is back at RSU for her senior season after pitching 71.1 innings for the navy and red in 24 appearances a season ago. The Sherman, Texas native started 10 games in 2015 registering a 4.71 earned run average and a 4-4 record from the circle with two complete games. She struck out 54 batters, held opposing hitters to a team-leading .265 batting average, and had an 18-inning stretch allowing just one run on nine hits. Jones came to the Hill following two seasons at Southeastern Oklahoma State, playing for Head Coach Ron Faubion. She made two appearances in the circle for the Savage Storm in 2014 reaching the NCAA Division II Women's College World Series. Jones converted to pitcher from her infield position in 2013, where she appeared in 40 games making 25 starts. As a freshman, Jones posted a .303 batting average with four doubles, 15 RBI, and 11 runs scored. She was a three-time all-state selection for Head Coach Lance Cherry at Tom Bean High School and named All-Texomaland Player of the Year as a senior. Jones was a four-time honoree on the All-Texomaland First Team. The daughter of Chuck and Roberta Jones, she said she chose RSU because "they have exciting athletic and academic opportunities."
