Even though he only spent one season on the Hill, Frederico Santos made an impact for the men’s basketball program during the 2014-15 season. Starting in all 28 games that season, the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil product accomplished the impressive feat of averaging a double-double for the season with 13.8 points per game and 11.0 rebounds. Throughout the season, Santos posted 20 or more points five times. In a game at Newman on Feb. 21, 2015, Santos had the best game of his career as he went off for 21 points and 17 rebounds. He led the Hillcats to a 20-8 record with a 14-6 mark in the Heartland Conference. After the season, Santos was named the Heartland Conference Player of the Year (the first player of any sport to that honor in the Division II era) after shooting 71 percent from the floor. He also earned NABC All-Region honors. Santos still currently holds the single season rebounding record after pulling down 309 boards during the campaign.

After his time at RSU, Santos continued his playing career as he traveled to Portugal to play professionally with Vitoria Alves Guimaraes, where he started in two games and played in 15 games. He was disruptive on defense, with six steals and 13 rebounds. On offense, Santos was effective with 25 assists and he shot .379 from the field, and .286 from the 3-point line in his entire career.
