LINDSBORG, Kan. - Bethany College came out on fire and never cooled off as the Swedes handed Rogers State its first road loss, 79-61, at Hahn Gymnasium Saturday in Lindsborg, Kan.

The Swedes made good on 11 attempts from behind the arc and shot a scorching 60-percent from the field for the game. The Hillcats were unable to match Jade Pihl and Cathy Wade, who combined to knock down nine three pointers. Wade finished with a game-high 27 points for Bethany.

RSU hung tough with the sharp-shooting Swedes in the first half. After trailing by as many as 12, the Hillcats cut the lead down to four on a basket by Bailey Woods with 3:30 remaining in the first period. Katie Rice scored the final basket of the half and RSU trailed 39-34 at the break.

In the second half Bethany simply couldn't miss. The Swedes shot 71-percent from the floor, converting on 15-of-21 shots. Wade drilled a trey from the top of the key to stretch the lead to 11 with 11:32 remaining in the game and the Hillcats would get no closer the rest of the way. Shalice Tommerup used her 6-4 frame to block nine RSU shots in the paint and held Yoda Woods to just three points.

Rice led the Hillcats with 16 points and nine rebounds. Hayley KnifeChief and Bailey Woods scored 12 and 10, respectively.

Rogers State (2-2) will travel to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Tuesday for a rematch with the Lady Eagles. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
