Savage Storm Sinks Hillcats, 85-61

DURANT, Okla. - Southeastern Oklahoma State put on a shooting clinic and drained any hopes of a Rogers State upset with an 85-61 win at Bloomer Sullivan Gymnasium in Durant on Monday.

The Savage Storm shot 58-percent for the game and knocked down 10-of-15 three point attempts en route to a 24-point win. Trista Shomo led the shooting parade with 26 points on 8-of-12 shooting. The senior from Broken Bow hit six shots from beyond the arc. Kacey Russell chipped in with three treys and 13 points while Jessica Hocker added 15 points.

Despite shooting 26-percent in the first half, RSU trailed by just 12 at break, 40-28. However, the Hillcats could do nothing to settle the Storm in the second half and SOSU quickly put the game out of reach. Shomo, Hocker and Russell drilled three consecutive threes with 12 minutes left to play and push the lead to 30 points at 66-36.

Katie Rice led the Hillcats with 13 points and six rebounds. Ashley Coleman gave RSU a spark off the bench with 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Freshman Lauren Froese also scored eight points in just five minutes of action.

Rogers State (3-3) will enter Sooner Athletic Conference play on Thursday at Mid-America Christian. The Hillcats and Lady Evangels are scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. The game can be heard live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
