RSU Women Wallop Lady Evangels, 68-27

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The first time Mid-America and Rogers State met this season the Hillcats pulled off their first conference win in a game that went down to the wire. Saturday's rematch quickly turned into a laugher as RSU ran away from the Lady Evangels 68-27 at the Claremore Expo.

Freshman Hayley KnifeChief sparked an 18-0 Hillcat run with nine straight points in the closing minutes of the first half to give RSU a large cushion. KnifeChief finished with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

Mid-America suffered through its worst shooting night of the year. The Lady Evangels shot just 14-percent from the floor for the game and made only two field goals in the second half. MACU didn't convert a single 3-point shot and committed 24 turnovers.

The game was tied 10-10 with 11:29 to play in the first half before the Hillcats went on their first scoring tear. RSU closed the half by outscoring the Lady Evangels 21-4 despite shooting just 32-percent from the floor.

The Cats reeled off another 16-0 run over an eight minute stretch in the second half and pushed the lead to 31 on a 3-pointer by Andrea Robinson with 3:54 remaining.

RSU outrebounded the Lady Evangels 47-41 and picked up 17 steals while only committing 14 turnovers. The Hillcats shot 43-percent in the second half as 14 players saw game action.

Tasha Parker joined KnifeChief in double figures with 11 points. Yoda Woods added seven points and nine rebounds. Azzie Knox finished with eight points and eight boards. The Hillcats allowed a season-low 27 points and held MACU to the lowest shooting percentage by an opponent on the season.

Rogers State (10-9, 6-5) moved into sole possession of sixth place in the conference standings with the victory. The Hillcats will remain at home next week as they welcome St. Gregory's to the Claremore Expo Thursday evening. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be aired live on RSU Public Television and RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
