Lady Bison Top Rogers State, 67-52

SHAWNEE, Okla. - The eighth-ranked Oklahoma Baptist Lady Bison completed an undefeated home season with a 67-52 win over Rogers State at the Noble Athletic Complex in Shawnee Thursday.
 

Taujhnae Travis led OBU with 23 points as the Lady Bison finished the regular season with a 17-0 record on their home floor. Hayley KnifeChief scored a team-high 12 points for RSU as the Hillcats lost for the eighth time in their last nine games.
 

RSU claimed a 7-6 lead in the early going on a bucket by Hannah Owen. OBU responded with a 13-3 run and never looked back. The Lady Bison stretched the lead to 12 late in the first half. The Hillcats were held to 31-percent shooting in the opening period and trailed 36-26 at the break.
 

Azzie Knox cut the Bison lead to seven with 13:55 to play in the game. However, OBU scored the next five points and held a double-digit lead the rest of the way. Betsy Simmons' layup with 2:43 remaining gave OBU its largest lead at 65-47. RSU shot 50-percent in the second half but was outscored 31-26. The Hillcats forced 21 turnovers while committing just 15 but were outrebounded 44-25 in the game.
 

Simmons finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Heather Graham and Ashley Gamble contributed 10 points apiece. Katie Rice joined KnifeChief in double figures with 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
 

Rogers State (12-17, 8-13) remains tied with Wayland Baptist for seventh place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with one game to play. The Hillcats travel to St. Gregory's Saturday for the regular season finale. The Cats and Cavs will tip-off at 6 p.m. and the game will be aired live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
