CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State scored the first ten points of Saturday's homecoming contest against Our Lady of the Lake University and spent the rest of the afternoon putting on a show for the large homecoming crowd at the Claremore Expo.

The sixth-ranked Hillcats soared to a 10-0 start and grew the lead to 20 before halftime. Five players finished in double figures as RSU coasted to a 93-65 victory in the official season opener. Seniors Sylvester Spicer and Lance Sullivan led all scorers with 16 points apiece. Chris Francis posted 14 points, Matt Kellogg added 12 and Reggie Burnett chipped in with 11.

Sullivan led the charge in the first half with 15 points and eight rebounds. RSU shot 56 percent from the floor in the first period, including a 6-for-9 effort from 3-point range. The Cats finished with 10 treys and hit 48 percent of their shots from the floor overall.

Keonte Logan led the Saints with 14 points. The first-year program committed 25 turnovers and shot 35 percent from the field for the game. Robert Martinez and Juan Ortiz contributed 10 points apiece for OLLU.

The Hillcats held a 47-45 advantage on the glass with Sullivan and Francis each posting nine rebounds. Maurice Rutherford filled up the stat sheet with eight points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals.

Rogers State (1-0) will travel to Bartlesville, Okla., Tuesday to face Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Eagles are the defending NAIA Division II National Champions and are ranked No. 1 entering the 2009-10 season. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
