ALVA, Okla. - Rogers State controlled the tempo from the opening tip and disposed of Northwestern Okla. State in dominating fashion Saturday night in Alva, Okla.

The No. 1 Hillcats sprinted out to a 22 point lead in the first half and strutted home with an 85-57 victory. It marked the eighth consecutive win for RSU and ensured the Hillcats will retain their No. 1 ranking for a third straight week.

The Cats shot 61 percent from the floor in the first half while holding the Rangers to only eight field goals. RSU eased off the gas after the intermission but still managed to outscore Northwestern, 36-30. The Hillcats led by as many as 30 points in the second half before settling for a 28-point win.
Senior Abram Donlon produced his best game of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Broken Arrow, Okla., native went 7-for-9 from the field and also picked up three steals. Eric Young scored a game-high 17 points and Deveric Taylor added 12. The Hillcats made seven 3-pointers in the game while holding the Rangers to 3-of-21 shooting from behind the arc. Currie Catrell and Brandon Brown led Northwestern with 11 points apiece.
Rogers State (21-1, 15-1) eclipsed the win total from last year's inaugural season with its 21st win of 2008-09. The Hillcats remain atop the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with six regular season games left on the schedule. RSU returns home Thursday night to face Southern Nazarene at the Claremore Expo. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Public Television and RSU Radio 91.3 FM. The first 500 fans through the gates will receive a free Hillcat Koozie courtesy of the RSU athletic department.
