BETHANY, Okla. - Rogers State put on an offensive showcase Saturday afternoon against Southern Nazarene and came away with a two-game split at the Cypert Athletic Complex in Bethany, Okla.

The Hillcats tallied 20 runs during the twin bill and belted 10 total homers on the day. RSU scored seven runs in the first two innings and cruised to a 10-5 victory in the opener. The Cats crushed a school-record seven home runs in the nightcap, but still came up on the short end of an 11-10 decision. The Crimson Storm won the first game of the series on Thursday in Claremore and claimed the series victory by winning the finale.
GAME ONE

The Hillcats scored runs in each of the first four innings en route to a five-run victory in Saturday's opener. Senior Zach Hamby started the fireworks when he swatted a three-run homer to left-field in the top of the first inning. Luis Caraballo made it 6-0 with a two-run double in the second inning and Joe Manbodh drove Caraballo home with an infield single.

Junior Colton West stretched the lead to 9-0 with a two-run homer to right in the top of the fourth. SNU finally got on the scoreboard with two runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth. The Crimson Storm pushed another run across in the bottom of the seventh before Grant Cosby iced the victory with consecutive strikeouts.

Cosby (4-3) earned the victory in a complete-game performance. He scattered 11 hits across seven innings and racked up six strikeouts with no walks. Andrew Steinmeyer was tagged with the loss for SNU. Steinmeyer allowed seven earned runs and was removed from the game in the middle of the second inning.

Tyler Harold and Brandt Barnes tallied three hits apiece for the Hillcats.
GAME TWO

RSU went deep early and often in the nightcap, but came up at least one big fly short. The Crimson Storm overcame seven Hillcat homers with 15 hits, including three long balls of their own, to post a one-run victory.

Mac Gordan and Adam Bies keyed a six-run third inning for the Storm with home runs to right-centerfield. RSU clawed its way back from a five-run deficit thanks to a two-run homer by Jairo Valdez in the fourth and a solo shot by Caraballo in the fifth. Caraballo finished 3 for 4 with two long balls in the contest.

The Cats trailed by three entering their final at-bat. Caraballo singled to start the inning and Hamby followed with a two-run bomb to deep centerfield. A fly out and a pop up ended the rally as the Storm held on for the win.

Zack Swart earned the pitching victory for SNU while Tyler Garner (5-4) suffered the loss for the Hillcats. Hamby joined Caraballo with two homers in the game and finished the doubleheader with three dingers and six RBI. Brandt Barnes and Lance Rymel also went deep in the losing effort.

Rogers State (17-14, 6-12) returns home Tuesday to face Oklahoma Wesleyan at the Hillcat Complex in Claremore. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
