OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Rogers State baseball team registered a 5-2 victory over Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday night in Oklahoma City as the Hillcats completed a three-game sweep of the Eagles.
The Hillcats dented the scoreboard first with a leadoff homer over the left field fence by Colton Campbell.
OC struck in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run blast over the center field fence by Jerry Owen. The Eagle's lead was short-lived as the Hillcats answered in the top of the seventh. Cade McKewon led off the inning with a single and Eric Baker belted a two-out home run over the center field fence to give RSU a 3-2 lead.
RSU led the rest of the way and tacked on insurance runs in the final two innings. Colton Campbell opened the eighth with a double to center field and scored on a double by Randy Ramirez. In the ninth, Baker single to left and stole second. He scored a RBI single by Colton Campbell to complete the 5-2 win.
Colton Campbell went 4-5 at the plate with two RBI and two runs scored. Baker tallied two RBI and scored two runs, going 3-4.
Senior Eric Faust (5-1) earned the complete-game victory on the mound for the Hillcats as he allowed two runs on six hits while fanning four.
The Hillcats tallied 13 hits against OC pitcher Ryan Morris who went the distance for the Eagles and allowed five earned runs with two strikeouts.
Rogers State (28-8, 11-7) continues its road stint on Friday as the Hillcats travel to Alva, Okla. to take on Northwestern Oklahoma State in a three game series. The Cats will face the Rangers in a nine inning affair on Friday at 6 p.m. and close out the series with a twin bill on Saturday at 1 p.m.
