CLAREMORE, Okla. – The Rogers State women's basketball team suffered a 67-59 Homecoming loss to Arlington Baptist Saturday afternoon at the Claremore Expo Center.
The Lady Patriots converted 11 three-pointers on the night while the Hillcats struggled to find a rhythm offensively, shooting just 10 percent from behind the arc and 50 percent from the charity stripe.
RSU opened the contest with a 14-7 lead with a 7-0 run capped by a
Breanna Burford layup. The advantage was short-lived as the Lady Patriots stormed back with a 15-2 stretch that included a trio of three-pointers. Arlington Baptist clung to the single-digit lead at intermission as the Hillcats trailed 37-33 at the break.
The Lady Patriots extended their lead to double figures in the second stanza with the deficit ballooning to their largest lead of 16 points with an Ansley Richardson three pointer with five minutes to play. The Hillcats cut the lead to 64-55 with a 9-2 run but ran out of time as ABC held on for the road win.
Morgan Hale led the charge for ABC with 24 points and eight rebounds while Richardson added 15 points and Hannah McGaughy rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12 points, all from behind the arc.
Mikaila Newton led RSU in scoring with 13 points while
Amari Jones registered her first double-double of the season with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Taylor Koelsch completed the double-digit scorers with a career-high 12 points.
Rogers State (1-2 overall) looks to return to its winning ways Tuesday as the Hillcats host Southern Arkansas at the Claremore Expo. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. and can be viewed live on the Hillcat Network at
