RSU Athletics Cancels Athletic Activities For Election Day

CLAREMORE, Okla. - The Rogers State University Athletic Department and Athletic Director Chris Ratcliff announced that Election Day, November 3, 2020, will be a day off for Hillcat student-athletes from all athletic related activity.

"As an athletic department, we decided to give our student-athletes the day off to take part in the Election Day process as they see fit," said Ratcliff. "It is a fundamental right to be able to vote and we want to ensure that our student-athletes have the opportunity to make their voices heard."

Rogers State's mandatory day off from athletic related activities is designed to encourage student-athletes to participate in Election Day activities, including the ability to exercise the right to vote. Student-athletes are permitted to work out individually, but there will be no team-organized practices or workouts.

"We have student-athletes who will not only vote, but also choose to volunteer and get involved in the community, and it is important to allow them the opportunity to be engaged in Election Day activities," added Ratcliff.
