MUSKOGEE, Okla. – Rogers State men's golf sits third overall after day one of the 22
nd Annual NSU Golf Classic was suspended late in the second round due to lightning. The Hillcats sit at -4 with three holes to play in the second round.
Freshman
Ty Nicar and junior
Luke Palmowski lead the way for the Hillcats, as the duo sit tied for third, just two shots off the lead. Nicar and Palmowski are both at -4 through 33 holes after shooting -2 rounds of 69 in the first round and sitting at -2 in the second round.
Nicar had seven birdies on the day to go along with 23 pars. The freshman has just three bogeys in the tournament.
Palmowski also has seven birdies in the tournament with 24 pars. He has one bogey in the second round and finished with just one hole over par in the first round, a double bogey on the first hole of the day.
Gonzalo Chaves sits third for the Hillcats, currently in 22
nd place with three holes to go in round two. Chaves was +2 for the day, shooting a +2 round of 73 in round one and currently sits at even par in the second round.
Elliot-Han Monteremal finished with the other scoring round for the Hillcats in round one. Monteremal matched Chaves with a +2 round of 73 to open the day. He is sitting at +2 in the second round and is tied for 41
st at +4 overall.
Aidan Gavey is currently in position to score for the Hillcats in round two, sitting at even par through 15 holes. Gavey had a +3 round of 74 on the first 18 holes and sits in a tie for 29
th on the day at +3.
The Hillcats will wrap up the second round and play the third round on Tuesday. Play is set to resume at 9 a.m.
