CLAREMORE, OKLA. – Rogers State men's golfer
Luke Palmowski has been named a Third Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Palmowski is just the second RSU golfer to be named All-American joining Hagen Barmasse who earned Honorable Mention recognition following the 2016-17 season.
"This is a great honor for Luke and Rogers State," said head men's golf coach
Steve Brown. "There are nine players on each of the first, second, and third teams, so in a nutshell, Luke is recognized as one of the top 27 players in the nation. A terrific honor that he richly deserves."
The Rotherham, England native saw his season culminated with a trip to the NCAA Division II National Championship as an individual qualifier.
In the eight tournaments building to the National Championship, Palmowski finished top-ten in all eight including four top-five finishes and two wins.
He punched his ticket to the National Championship shooting even par in the three-day NCAA Midwest/Central Region Championship. Palmowski dominated the MIAA Conference Championship firing 71-65 in the first two rounds at Shangri La Resort and closed the tournament with a 75 despite sub-freezing temperatures and a mid-round, two-hour weather delay. The impressive performance led to a seven-stroke victory to claim the individual title.
He earned his first collegiate tournament victory at the NSU Spring Classic at Muskogee Country Club with a 32-foot birdie putt on the 53
rd hole in a playoff on April 13.
The 2021-22 season opens on September 13 for Palmowski and the Rogers State Men's Golf team at the Washburn Invitational at Topeka Country Club.
