Llamas-Howell Named NFCA All-American For Second Straight Season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Rogers State softball's Sara Llamas-Howell has been named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-American for the second-straight season, the organization announced on Wednesday.
 
The Pawnee, Okla. native was named a Third Team All-American after she finished the regular season with a 1.44 ERA and held opponents to a measly .193 average at the plate. The senior was responsible for 19 of the Hillcats 40 wins during the regular season. In 146.1 innings pitched, she struck out 143 batters with a MIAA-low 52 strikeouts looking. She also led the Hillcats to their first MIAA Co-Regular Season Championship.
 
In the postseason, Llamas-Howell registered an outstanding 0.81 ERA in 34.2 innings, only allowing four earned runs on 25 hits with 17 strikeouts and a 4-1 record. She guided the Hillcats to their second MIAA Tournament Championship in three years throwing two complete games, including the nine-inning championship game against Pittsburg State. She then helped RSU to its second Central Regional title in three tries with two complete game shutouts of Southern Nazarene with nine combined strikeouts.
 
This marks the fifth-straight season that a Hillcat pitcher has earned All-American honors.
