CLAREMORE, Okla. – Rogers State baseball had three student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 2.

Jake Mitchell had an outstanding sophomore campaign as he finished with a .278 average at the plate with 44 hits and a team-high seven home runs to go with 28 RBI, 40 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. The Pawnee, Okla. native carved his name into the record books as he shattered the school single season walks record, earning 49 free passes during the season.

Matthew Schure also put together a strong season in his first year on the Hill with a .312 average at the plate, the second best on the team. The junior posted 48 hits with eight extra base hits, a home run, 25 RBI, 36 runs scored and eight stolen bases.

Blake Johnson was solid on the mound for the Hillcats as he struck out a team-high 57 batters in 65.2 innings pitched. The junior posted a 6.44 ERA in 17 appearances and 14 starts with a 3-6 record.

CSC was founded in 1957 and is a 3,200-plus member national organization comprised of the sports public relations, media relations and communications/information professionals throughout all levels of collegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. The second oldest management association in all of intercollegiate athletics, CSC became an affiliated partner with NACDA (National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics) in December of 2008. CSC has been the proud provider of the Academic All-America® Program and Hall of Fame since 1952.
