TULSA, Okla. – Senior Brianna Maddux and the Hillcat women's golf team are tied for the lead after the first round of the NSU Women's Classic at Page Belcher Golf Course – Stone Creek.

"The ladies showed up and played well for our first round of the year," commented head coach Lexi Johnson. "We had a really strong finish by our top four to keep us in a tie for first. Looking forward to tomorrow and we are ready to show up and compete."
 
As a team, the Hillcats are tied with Harding and Arkansas-Fort Smith with a round score of 299 (+15). Southwestern Oklahoma State and Oklahoma Baptist closed out the top five.
 
Maddux delivered an impressive performance in the first round of her senior golf season, finishing with a score of 71, even par. After starting the day with a bogey, the Owasso native rebounded with birdies on holes two, six and 18. She is currently tied for first place with Allie Perry (UAFS), Morgan Simmons (OBU) and Vivian Volion (HU).
 
Sophomore Milena Andres ranks second on the team, finishing the day tied for 13th with a score of 74 (+2). Her round was highlighted by birdies on holes four and nine. Junior Lauren Anderson and freshman Lou Fourdan rounded out the top four scorers for the team, both finishing with a score of 77 (+6), tied for 29th. Additionally, Lara Foigel recorded a two-round score of 83 (+12) in her first collegiate outing.
 
Freshman Clara Ledun finished with a score of 78 (+7). Junior Rylan Ashley, competing as an individual, carded a score of 79 (+8) and is tied for 42nd.
 
The Hillcats will resume action from T-Town tomorrow morning for the final round beginning at 12:03 p.m.
