GREENSBORO, N.C. – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) unveiled its latest national rankings on Tuesday, and the Hillcats jumped five spots to No. 24 with 20 points. This marks the second week the Cats have appeared in the poll.
Rogers State (16-3, 5-1 MIAA) is coming off a dominant series sweep against Minnesota Duluth last weekend at the RCB Bank Sports Complex. The Hillcats outscored the Bulldogs 41-14, collecting 52 hits, including 11 doubles, a triple from
Andres Contreras and a home run by
Jake Mitchell.
Spencer Hatch led the pitching staff with a career-high 13 strikeouts, while
Zach Horwith,
Dillon Dibrell and
Cole Abbott also excelled on the bump in their starting appearances.
RSU will wrap up non-conference play this afternoon at 2 p.m. against Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva.
North Greenville claimed the top spot in this week's poll, dethroning defending national champion Tampa, which is ranked No. 3. Fellow MIAA opponents Pittsburg State and Central Missouri are ranked fourth and sixth, respectively.
