About: Simpson returns to RSU for her senior campaign after being one of three players to start in all 53 games last season. The Riverside, California native drove in 11 runs as a junior with a .963 fielding percentage in 2014. Simpson helped defend the middle of the infield during the 2013 season with a .943 fielding percentage on 214 chances for the Hillcats. At the plate, she recorded a .346 batting average adding four home runs during her sophomore season. Simpson joined RSU from Iowa Western Community College where she led the team to an NJCAA Region II Championship while earning NFCA All-American Scholar and NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement recognition. Simpson hit .344 with 74 hits and 55 RBI finishing the 2012 season with 17 doubles, three triples, and seven home runs as a sophomore. In 2011, she redshirted while at Iowa Western. At Riverside Poly High School she was named the 2010 Thousand Oaks Tournament MVP. The daughter of Clay and Leslie Simpson, she said she chose RSU "to play softball."
