CLAREMORE, Okla. - Everything went right for Rogers State Saturday afternoon as the Hillcats put together their most impressive effort of the season in a 104-76 drubbing of Wayland Baptist (Plainview, Texas) at the Claremore Expo.

RSU took control of the game with a fast start and never took its foot off the accelerator to improve to 3-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and remain unbeaten on the season. The Cats rained in a team record 14 3-point baskets while posting a single-game scoring record with 104 points.
Sophomore Deveric Taylor ignited the high-octane offense with four treys in the first half alone. Taylor finished with a career-high 21 points and tied Aldric Reynolds' team record for most 3-pointers in a game with five. Fellow sophomores Matt Kellogg and Chris Francis got in on the long distance scoring parade as well. Kellogg tallied a career-best 19 points with four treys and Francis added 15 points on 3-of-6 shooting from downtown.
The Hillcats hit nine 3s and shot 58 percent from the floor in the first half, yet only led the Pioneers by 11 at the break. Taylor's fifth 3 capped a 9-0 RSU run to start the second half that pushed the lead to 20. The margin eventually ballooned to 30 points, allowing Coach Lloyd Williams to empty his bench for the final 10 minutes of the contest.
RSU converted 39-of-69 (57%) field goals in the game to post its best shooting percentage to-date. The Cats showed no shooting weaknesses in the contest as they knocked down 14-of-28 (50%) shots from downtown and made good on 12-of-14 (86%) from the free throw line.
Taylor led five RSU players in double figures. Junior Sylvester Spicer scored 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting while Eric Young managed 12 points in just 14 minutes of game action.
No. 11 Rogers State (8-0, 3-0) extended its win streak to eight games and remains atop the SAC standings. The Hillcats will take a week off to focus on final exams before hitting the road next Saturday. RSU will travel to Siloam Springs, Ark., for a rematch with John Brown scheduled for 3 p.m. The game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
