CLAREMORE, Okla. - Rogers State came out red hot and never cooled off en route to a 104-81 victory over Mid-America Christian Thursday night at the Claremore Expo.

The Hillcats connected on their first six shots of the game and tied a school record for points in a Sooner Athletic Conference contest. Junior Deveric Taylor keyed the offensive firepower by knocking down 10 of 17 shots. The Dallas product drilled five 3-pointers and matched his career high with 25 points.

Senior Lance Sullivan set the pace in the early going with 16 first half points. Junior Matt Kellogg gave the Cats a 10 point advantage with a trey at the 14:21 mark of the first half and capped a huge run late in the period with another three to make it 50-25.

The margin peaked at 26 when Taylor buried his fifth and final three with 4:18 remaining in the contest. RSU finished with 12 3-point baskets and eclipsed the century mark for the first time since an early non-conference win against Avila University.

Senior forward Sylvester Spicer made a splash in his return to the hardwood following an eight-game suspension. Spicer poured in 17 points off the bench in just 19 minutes of game action. John Boyd chipped in with 11 points and eight rebounds while Sullivan was held scoreless after halftime and finished with 16 points.

Brandon Williams led the Evangels with 18 points. He was joined in double figures by Charlie Shorter with 16. The Hillcats forced MACU to commit 20 turnovers with 13 steals on the night. RSU extended its winning streak to four with the victory and has won nine of its last 10 games overall.

Rogers State (15-7, 8-6) swept the season series from the Evangels and will look to do the same this weekend with a win at Oklahoma City. The Hillcats and Stars will collide inside Abe Lemons Arena Saturday afternoon for a pivotal conference tilt. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m. and the game will be carried live on RSU Radio 91.3 FM.
