GOODWELL, Okla. – In its final series of the season, the Rogers State baseball team opened the three-game road trip with a doubleheader sweep at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Friday afternoon.

The Hillcats took game-one, 7-6, over the Aggies as south paw senior Mason Marquette ended his RSU career with a win on the mound. In the nightcap, senior Andrew Vanisi led the charge going 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI as the Hillcats registered the 11-3 win.

GAME ONE
The Hillcats jumped out to an early lead and held on for the victory in game-one.

In the top of the first, Kohlmeyer reached base on an error and scored on a one-out triple ripped down the left field line by Cesar Rodriguez. Andrew Vanisi followed with a walk and Trae BoBo reached on an error the brought Rodriguez in to score, giving RSU the 2-0 advantage.

In the third, RSU extended its lead with a three-run home run by BoBo and a Garett Hall RBI ground out that drove in Blake Gipson who doubled earlier in the inning.

The Aggies cut the Hillcat lead to one run in the bottom of the frame, stringing together five hits to score five runs with the help of an RSU error.

RSU added a much needed insurance run in the sixth. Hall led off with a walk and moved into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt by Zack Ashford. A passed ball put the freshman catcher on third base and an OPSU miscue allowed him to score.
