KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Rogers State women's track and field were tabbed to finish 10th while the men were picked to finish 11th in the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced on Friday.
After finishing ninth at the MIAA Indoor Championships earlier this season, the Hillcat women were selected to finish 10th in the outdoor season receiving 27 points in the poll.
The defending outdoor champions, Pittsburg State was picked to repeat as the top team earning 11 first place votes with 121 total points. Northwest Missouri (103 points) and Central Missouri (101 points) rounded out the top three. Missouri Southern (one first place vote, 96 points) was picked fourth with Fort Hays State and Lincoln tying for fifth place with both garnering 76 points.
Washburn (59 points), Nebraska-Kearney (54 points), Missouri Western (39 points) and RSU closed out the top 10.
Emporia State (25 points) and Central Oklahoma (15 points) wrapped up the poll.
On the men's side, the Hillcats were tabbed to finish in 11th place with 10 points after finishing in the same spot in the indoor championship earlier this season.
Defending national champions, Pittsburg State was selected to repeat for the third consecutive season atop the standings and earned 10 first place votes with 100 total points. Missouri Southern (one first place vote, 91 points), Nebraska-Kearney (74 points), Fort Hays State (68 points) and Central Missouri (63 points) rounded out the top five.
Northwest Missouri (56 points), Lincoln (46 points), Washburn (41 points), Missouri Western (25 points), and Emporia State closed out the top 10.
RSU is back in action on Friday, March 24 as they travel to Shawnee, Okla. to compete in the OBU Invitational.
