Biography

About: Newton joins the Hillcats from NCAA Division I Robert Morris where he spent last season playing for Head Coach Andrew Toole. The Seattle, Wash., native made 12 appearances for the Colonials averaging 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game and scored a season-best 11 points at the University of Kentucky. Newton spent his first two collegiate seasons at Central Arizona College and scored 17.4 points per game during his sophomore campaign starting 31 of 33 games. He reached double-digit scoring in all but three games in 2012-13, including a season-high 29 against Tohono O'odham. The son of Crystal Hayes, he said he chose RSU because of "basketball and the coaches did a great job of recruiting me."
