About: Smith comes to RSU from Independence Community College, where he played two seasons for Head Coach Beau Schultz. The Verdigris, Oklahoma product tallied 35 hits with six doubles, two triples, and one home run as a sophomore. He drove in 28 runs and hit .295 in 2015 adding 21 stolen bases in 41 games played. As a freshman, Smith totaled 22 hits with four doubles, one triple and 17 RBI for the Pirates, while swiping 16 bases. He posted a .479 batting average with 12 doubles, five triples, and one home run in his senior season at Verdigris High School. He finished with 58 RBI and 31 steals for Head Coach Brian Keith and the Cardinals in 2013. The son of Scott and Lisa Smith, he said he chose RSU because "it's a great opportunity to play baseball and get a good education."
