About: Gipson is back on the Hill for his junior season after posting a .291 batting average, ranking third on the team, while starting 44 games for the Cats as a sophomore in his first season at RSU in 2014. The Tulsa, Oklahoma native led RSU with 27 RBI, 10 doubles, and three triples for a .426 slugging percentage on 60 total bases, playing in the outfield or as designated hitter. He tallied an eight-game hit streak, 14 hits from March 7 to March 21, and reached base safely in 15 of 17 games through the middle portion of the season. Gipson spent the 2013 season playing for Head Coach Mark Pollard at Carl Albert State College, registering a .362 batting average with seven doubles, three triples, and three home runs while driving in 20 runs. He took a redshirt in 2012 at NCAA Division I Dallas Baptist for Head Coach Dan Heefner. Gipson graduated from John H. Guyer High School in Denton, Texas playing baseball for Head Coach Johnny Kinzy. He recorded a .467 batting average as a senior in 2011 with 20 extra-base hits for the Wildcats to go with a school-record .538 on-base percentage. Gipson was a UA All-American, all-district, and all-area team selection earning Rawlings Top-Prospect team honors. He also reached round two of the Team USA tryouts and was a Perfect Game High Honorable Mention All-American. The son of Mike and Tammy Gipson, he said he chose RSU "to play baseball close to home."
