About: Spainhoward joins the Hillcats from Southeast Missouri State where he only played in the fall of 2010 due to injury. Prior to playing at SMSU, he spent two seasons at Southwestern Illinois College. The left handed pitcher tossed 50 innings and fanned 41 batters with a 6.30 ERA and a 3-3-1 overall record. As a freshman, Spainhoward registered a 5-4-1 record with a 6.19 ERA in 52.1 innings pitched and 27 strikeouts. The team earned the Region 24 championship and he was named to the all-tournament team. Spainhoward finished his prep career at Francis Howell North High School. During his senior season he earned a 5-0 record with a 1.67 ERA. He fanned 46 batters in 46 innings pitched. He had a batting average of .313 and drove in 19 runs. He said he chose RSU because “of the good baseball program and southern hospitality.”
