Biography

About: In 2013, De La Cruz was a mainstay behind the plate for the Hillcats. The New York, N.Y., native hit just over .300 at the plate and blasted seven doubles and one homerun. De La Cruz started 25 of the 35 games he played in the 2012 season. He played primarily as a designated hitter for the Hillcats but also spent time behind the plate. De La Cruz drove in 18 runs with six home runs and two doubles. He previously spent two seasons at Western Junior College where he received a redshirt and a medical-hardship redshirt. He spent his freshman season at Baltimore City Community College where he led the team in RBIs. He said he chose RSU because “it gave me an opportunity to continue my education and baseball career.”
