About: Thomas is back for his third season on the Hill following a 2014 campaign where he made 13 appearances and four starts for the Cats. The Pleasantville, Iowa native posted a 1-3 record pitching 21.2 innings for the year. He picked up his first collegiate victory throwing two scoreless innings, with a season-high three strikeouts, in relief against Baker. Thomas took a redshirt for the Hillcats during the 2013 season after coming to RSU from Pleasantville High School. He had a successful senior season finishing with a 0.70 earned run average and a 6-4 record on the mound as the right hander fanned 118 batters in 60 innings pitched. He helped Pleasantville reach the district final and was named first-team all-conference, a first-team all-district pitcher, a first-team all-state pitcher, and academic all-state. Thomas also competed in cross country, golf, and was an all-conference basketball selection where he earned First-Team All-Sub State accolades. He was the first baseball player named first-team all-state and academic all-state in Pleasantville High School history. He was awarded the George Bowman Award given to the top male athlete at PHS. His sister, Chelsea, was a three-time, First-Team All-American pitcher at the University of Missouri and a member of Team USA Softball. The son of Rich and Dana Thomas, he said he chose RSU because of the “winning ways of RSU and the coaches.”
